Independent nurseries usually grow part of their own stock and carry varieties suited to the local climate, while big-box garden departments compete on price for common plants. Plant shops focus on houseplants, succulents and orchids, often with repotting help. Greenhouses and growers sell seedlings and bedding plants in spring, and many offer wholesale prices to landscapers. Landscape designers plan planting beds, patios and irrigation, and some garden centers offer design and installation services as well.

Tucson is in Arizona, in the Southwest, where the desert climate brings very hot summers, mild sunny winters and the summer monsoon; outdoor businesses shift their hours toward early mornings and evenings in the hottest months. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Tucson follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I've bought two plants from these folks and lots from big box stores. All the plants from big box stores died or had problems. These plants have thrived over time. It's a beautiful nursery that is a sensory delight to visit.

What a special place to visit! Staff are wonderfully attentive. Displays of items are very creative. I never tire of walking around this beautiful oasis. Unique items that you donβt find at all other similar places. Thanks for being such a nice place to visit!

Stopped in today looking for some talavera pots. They have an awesome selection, good prices, much better prices than other nurseries, even Home Goods. Plants looked gorgeous, healthy and they had a great selection, while I didn't pick up any today, I'll definitely be back for some. Service was great, the one of the ladies even helped me carry the pots to my truck. This isn't a chain store and it shows, great to support a locally owned business.

This store is so amazing! Really great variety of all sorts of desert plants, beautifully kept, and the employees could not be nicer. I love that it's a locally owned family business, too. I would recommend Ponderosa to anyone and definitely hope to come back and buy more!
